Saint Louis, MO - Cliff Cazey, spokesperson for the Saint Louis Kamikazes, announced today the signing of 18yr old Cuban defector Tomas Santos to a 5 year major league contract with a $7.9 million signing bonus. Santos was assigned to St. Louis' AAA affiliate. While pitching for the Cuban national team, Santos mixed two pitches, including a wicked slider. AAA Pitching coach Miguel Cabrera said in a statement: "This is a very exciting time for our team. I look forward to helping Tom develop his control and refine his pitching mechanics to mold him into a succesful Major league closer". The signing was met with mixed reactions amongst the Cuban community in Florida.
